The primary PowerShell cmdlet throughout this discussion is Get-WmiObject. Most server admins will have at least a passing familiarity with Windows Management Interface (WMI), a set of telemetry points to help monitor performance and server health, among other things. WMI is frequently used to filter the application of Group Policy Objects to only those computers that meet a specific set of criteria. WMI is Microsoft’s implementation of Common Information Model (CIM), which is an industry standard. Our 8-Bit Orange is an homage to the era when our company’s founders first fell in love with technology, which at the time meant Atari, ColecoVision, Mario & Zelda, the Apple II, and the Oregon Trail. It is a reminder of the alpha, the first star in our technological constellation and the legacy from which we come.
